Harlem Candle Company brings glam to the Architectural Digest Design Show with their “Hollywood Meets Harlem” theme

March 5, 2018 - New York, NY: After a successful industry debut in 2016, the Harlem Candle Company is returning for its second year at the Architectural Digest Design Show.

As the exclusive home fragrance brand at the show in 2016, the Harlem Candle Co. caught the attention of consumers, buyers and celebrities with their 1930’s inspired Harlem parlor room exhibit. Furnished with vintage pieces from the founder’s personal collection, furniture pieces from Koket, and a rug by Woven Concepts, the Harlem Candle Co’s design aesthetic gained the new luxury home fragrance company the honor of being the most photographed booth at the show.

This year, the Harlem Candle Co. will be showcasing an elegant and glamorous design theme, "Hollywood Meets Harlem" using furniture and design partners Koket, Woven Concepts, and Kennedy Crawford Design. It pays homage to the influences and impact Harlem artistry has had on Hollywood of yesterday and today. Using rich colors and textures and vintage images, the Harlem Candle Co. will create another attention grabbing exhibit.

The Harlem Candle Co. is excited to showcase its newest Langston candle which celebrates elements of the jazz poet’s creative vision with fragrance accords reflecting some of the strong symbols in his life...the worn vintage leather of his favorite armchair, aromatic tobacco with hints of clove and vanilla and sweet ambery incense that recalls his many visits to churches in Mexico.

Other fragrances in the collection include the Josephine candle, which evokes the opulence and glamour of Miss Baker's boudoir; the Lenox candle, with its seductive floral fragrance is inspired by the floral shops that lined the eponymous street known as Harlem’s heartbeat; the Ellington, inspired by the style and richness of Duke Ellington’s music; and the Renaissance which pays homage to the entire Renaissance movement with its bold yet smooth notes.

Over the past two years, the Harlem Candle Co. has expanded beyond just candles. The home fragrance collection now includes room and linen sprays, reed diffusers, and greeting cards perfect for gift giving.

With continued focus on its unique attributes – a team of award wining perfumers, packaging featuring unique details such as the Nightclub Map of Harlem (1932), the 22-karat gold used on select glass, and customized colored glass – the Harlem Candle Co. is well positioned to expand its presence in retail stores, hotels and boutiques around the world.

The Architectural Digest Design Show will take place on March 22nd - 25th, 2018 from 10am to 6pm at Pier 92 & 94 on 12th Avenue and 55th Street in New York City.  The Harlem Candle Co will be located in the SHOPS, booth S106.

About Harlem Candle Co. The Harlem Candle Co. is a luxury home fragrance brand specializing in scented candles inspired by the richness of Harlem. Founded in 2014 by travel and lifestyle expert Teri Johnson, the Harlem Candle Company is the manifestation of her love affair with fragrance, jazz, and Harlem.

As a child, Teri grew obsessed with her favorite aunt's collection of exotic perfumes and travel stories, planting the seed for her own relationship with travel and fragrances. Through her travels to over 67 countries, she experienced the power of scent and its ability to transport you through time and place.

The Harlem Candle Co. began in her kitchen in 2014. Teri, a native Texan had decided to make the New York City neighborhood of Harlem her permanent home. Through intense research, she discovered Harlem’s vibrant and rich past. Music icons including Billie Holiday and Duke Ellington who performed at clubs such as the Savoy Ballroom, the colorful areas of Harlem’s Sugar Hill and Lenox Avenue all inspired her to share these stories.

Working alongside award winning perfumers, Teri has designed fragrances used to create beautifully scented candles that celebrate the Harlem Renaissance. Each one tells a story while taking you on an olfactory journey through place and time. Every candle is specially handcrafted using top grade soy blend wax infused with one of a kind fragrance oils. The subtle scents and soft glows from Harlem candles instantly enhance your space while creating a sense of comfort and luxury.
