Harlem Candle Company
"Langston" luxury travel candle 4 oz
The Langston candle celebrates elements of the jazz poet’s creative vision with fragrance accords reflecting some of the strong symbols in his life….
The worn vintage leather of his favorite armchair, aromatic tobacco laced with a hint of clove and vanilla from the pipes of the neighborhood men, and the smell of ambery incense that recalls his many visits to churches in Mexico.
A dramatic heart of heady jasmine and a warm background of resinous sandalwood round out this deeply personal blend that perfectly evokes Langston Hughes, a true Renaissance man.
Middle: Jasmine, Cade
Base: Vanilla, Sandalwood, Amber
The Langston candle can definitely take you back in time. The fragrance helps to paint a picture of the time and experiences of Langston Hughes. These notes together can be interpreted as traditionally male for that time. A pleasant surprise.
The scent is so sophisticated, smokey, woodsy, cologne-like which takes you to some vintage jazz club or puts you in another place similar to a vintage lounge in Harlem. This is my first Harlem candle, and it burns potent and nicely for hours. This isn't something I would burn every day and for any mood. It requires a certain ambiance. The candles are also above average pricing although high-quality. I look forward to exploring the rest of the product line.
Will order again for sure
Langston Hughes is one of my all-time favorite poets and the elements used in this candle are some of my all-time favorite scents, so this was a no-brainer purchase. And it is worth every penny. This is a wonderful, well-balanced warm scent: not too sweet, not too smoky, and not too heavy. It's a beautiful mix of tobacco, resins, incense, and leather. The jasmine and bergamot add a nice bit of crisp lightness. As someone else already pointed out: it smells like your elegant, sophisticated grandfather's library and office. My only regret is that I didn't just go for it, splurge, and buy the full sized version of this scent.
Mix of Tobacco and leather, one of Harlem’s best scents. A must try if you are a fan!
