Harlem Candle Company

"Frederick" luxury candle

$ 48

Inspired by Frederick Douglass, our Frederick candle pays loving tribute to a brave and charismatic man who passionately followed his dream of a world of freedom for all.

A bronze statue commemorating his life as an abolitionist and champion of women’s rights stands tall as the Gateway to Harlem anchored at the northwest corner of Central Park.

Infused with fruits and botanicals, we’ve re-imagined the orangerie from Douglass’s childhood to include juicy bergamot, yuzu, and fresh green cardamom which sets the stage for a heart of vanilla orchid, cypress, and ginger blossom. A liberating base of suede, sandalwood and tonka bean add warmth and depth to this elegant and uplifting blend.

One of my new faves

I absolutely adore this candle. If you’re looking for a more subtle floral/woodsy fragrance this is it. It gives me a driftwood vibe that makes it the perfect unisex candle. I also think it’s a great candle to gift especially if you’re not sure about the person’s fragrance preference.

Fredrick is amazing!

Every time I burn Frederick I get so many compliments! I bought the one wick version and it still fills up a small to medium sized room with ease which is not common! The uniqueness of the scent really makes it stand out. I find that candles are rarely unique, most are heavily scented with vanilla and don’t stand out. Frederick, and other candles by the brand, are far from generic and instead remind me of high end perfumes.
